Cheaper IS Better!

Have you heard? They (the experts) are now saying buying frozen vegetables is actually better than the "fresh" produce at the grocery store! Unless you are growing your own vegetables or buying them at a local farmer's market, you are better off from a nutrition standpoint to buy frozen vegetables than the more expensive "fresh" ones. The frozen veggies are flash frozen at their peak and retain more nutrients. Not only is it more convenient to have a stock pile in the freezer than to have to run to the store for fresh veggies, it is MUCH more cost efficient! For once the cost effective option is actually the better option all around!

Jennifer! I just found your blog and was thrilled to hear about you and Trey! So exciting to hear your great news about a baby also! It is amazing how technology can link us all back together. I hope that you and Trey are doing great and I wish you all the best during your pregnancy.
Take care! -Catie McRae Murphy

Hello Howells,
It was great seeing your comments on our guestbook and my page! I had no idea so many of you "merried" folk keep your own blogs. I'm behind the times.
Good luck with the frozen veggies. If you ever get a wild hair, try making your own hummus. Cans of chick peas are cheap, and tahini comes in bulk. Fast, keeps well in the fridge, and crazy inexpensive.
Hope all is well!

Jennifer,

Thanks for the comment on my blob- it's so much fun to be able to keep up with each other!! I am so happy for you and Trey!! Enjoy the adventure it is so much fun!! Have you felt the baby kick yet?

When I worked at the VA we often counseled our patients with high blood pressure to switch to unseasoned frozen veggies as they were cheaper than fresh and lower in sodium than canned...just have to be careful to get the unseasoned ones to avoid the excess salt.

I for one am HUGE fan on frozen veggies too!!! I buy the frozen peas and carrots and heat some up for the boys for dinner almost every night, throw them in rice, casseroles or anything! I am glad to hear they have more nutrients too!
